As part of the actions of the Platform of Latin America and the Caribbean for Climate Action on Agriculture (PLACA) to strengthen capacities, the Glossary of Terms in Climate Action and Agriculture was created as a tool designed to facilitate a common technical language among government technical teams, decision-makers, students, researchers, stakeholders and the general public.
It brings together 142 key terms related to climate action, sustainable agriculture and environmental governance, selected for their relevance to the design, implementation and evaluation of public policies or sectoral programs.
The glossary was developed by PLACA's Thematic Working Group on Research, Development and Technological Innovation (TWG4), with contributions from the other members of the Platform's working groups, and takes as its main reference the conceptual frameworks of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), adapting definitions to the context of Latin America and the Caribbean when necessary.
More than a compendium of definitions, this information resource seeks to strengthen technical capacities and promote regional climate action in order to contribute to building resilient, low-emission and socially inclusive agrifood systems.
