Objectives

• To understand the fundamentals of what carbon markets are, how they work and their relevance in the context of climate change and agriculture.
• Explore Article 6 of the Paris Agreement by analyzing the opportunities and challenges presented by this article for LAC countries.
• Explore the current state of carbon markets in LAC, both mandatory and voluntary markets.
• Promote public policy dialogue and strategies necessary for the implementation of emissions trading systems and provide tools for LAC countries to effectively use carbon markets to achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
